Entrance Requirements

 

The Georgia Institute of Cosmetology Main Campus and Its’ Branches complies with the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology requirements.  Students must be at least 17 years of age with written consent of legal parent and/or guardian Student 18 years or older must have high School Diploma or GED.

 
Registration and Enrollment

 

All applicants are interviewed to determine if there is sufficient interest on the applicant's part in pursuing a course in Master Cosmetology and related areas.  During the interview, the institution's registration procedures, course of study, fees and expenses, and general information are discussed.

Typical Attendance Schedules
 

Cosmetology Course - 1500 hours

  FULL TIME
30 hours per week - 11 months

PART TIME

* Schedules for other courses such as Brush-Up, Postgraduate and Teachers Training are determined on an individual basis according to the specific needs of the student and when classes are available.

Licensing Requirements

 

The State of Georgia requires that any person seeking to be licensed as a cosmetologist must:
A. Be at least seventeen years of age when applying for licensing.
B. Have completed 1500 hours of training at a licensed school of cosmetology.
C. Have completed a high school education or its equivalent (GED).
D. Successfully pass a written and practical examination administered by the State Board of Cosmetology.
